makes 1 quart (32oz) frozen yogurt


ingredients

  • frozen yogurt base

    • 1 1/2 lb (24oz/680g) thick whole milk yogurt (greek or icelandic)

    • about 3/4 cup (145g) granulated sugar

    • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

  • large mixing bowl

  • silicone spatula

steps

  1. make the frozen yogurt base: in a large mixing bowl, combine 1 1/2 lb (24oz/680g) thick whole milk yogurt, about 3/4 cup (145g) granulated sugar, & 1 tsp vanilla extract. whisk until sugar is completely dissolved and everything is well combined

  2. cover mixing bowl and chill for at least an hour or overnight

  3. churn the frozen yogurt: once yogurt mixture has completely chilled, pour mixture into an ice cream maker (make sure you have prepared your ice cream machine according to your machine’s directions before churning) and churn according to your machine’s directions. it should take about 15 minutes

    • using a rubber spatula, transfer frozen yogurt to an ice cream container/deli container. cover tightly and freeze until ice cream about 2 hours before serving

  4. serve the the frozen yogurt: once ready to serve, let frozen yogurt sit in room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving

  5. enjoy!
