the easiest holiday bake! chocolate puff pastries with gingerbread cookies & powdered sugar snow π«
makes about 6 cozy gingerbread puff pastries
ingredients
1 sheet of store-bought puff pastry
6 pieces of any chocolate
6 pieces of gingerbread cookies
1 egg, beaten for egg wash
powdered sugar
tools
kitchen knife
baking sheet with parchment paper
fork
pastry brush
wire rack
mesh sieve
steps
prepare the puff pastry: thaw puff pastry according to package directions
once ready, roll out puff pastry and cut into about 6 equal rectangles (see notes below)
assemble the cozy gingerbread puff pastries: evenly place all rectangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. place a piece of chocolate on upper half of puff pastry and lay gingerbread cookie on top of chocolate. fold lower half of puff pastry up to cover half the gingerbread cookie
using a fork, crimp edges of puff pastry to secure gingerbread cookie & chocolate. brush puff pastry with egg wash
bake the cozy gingerbread puff pastries: preheat oven to 400F. in the mean time, chill puff pastry. bake for about 15 minutes in the oven until puff pastry is puffed up and golden brown
let cool for a couple minutes on the baking sheet, then let cool on a wire rack. dust some powdered sugar for a snow effect

notes
the number of pastries may depend on the size/dimensions of your puff pastry sheet. just make sure to divide your puff pastry into even rectangles and have the corresponding amount of chocolate pieces & gingerbread cookies
feel free to use any chocolate that you like! if your chocolate pieces are small, you can lay more chocolate down. if you have some empty space when you fold the lower half of the puff pastry, you can insert another piece of chocolate to fill the space
